Dreamcolor Creative Studio supported the development of Living Ancestors, a multi-language publication created to illuminate and celebrate the lives and contributions of Catholic Sisters across Africa.
The project is part of the Watawa wa Taa initiative, launched in Nairobi to bring greater visibility to Sisters serving in communities across the continent. Through storytelling and documentation, the work highlights leadership, faith, and lived experience that often go unseen, yet deeply shape local communities.
This international publication brings together voices from multiple countries and was developed across English, French, and Portuguese. The process required close coordination across contributors, translators, and design support.
Our role focused on shaping the content into a cohesive and accessible reading experience across each edition. Care was taken to maintain clarity and consistency while honoring the integrity of each narrative.
Accessibility was also a key consideration. In addition to print and digital formats, a web-based flipbook was developed to make the publication easier to view and share across devices, particularly in settings where large file downloads may be a barrier.
The process was deeply collaborative, requiring flexibility and attention to detail at every stage. Contributors, translators, design partners, and the client team worked together to bring each story forward with care.
Living Ancestors reflects a broader effort to document and share the experiences of Catholic Sisters across Africa, women whose presence and leadership continue to shape their communities in lasting ways.
Our support included:
Content structuring, layout and formatting across multiple language editions, coordination across materials, and preparation for both digital and print distribution.
If your work involves multiple pieces, voices, or moving parts, we’d be glad to support the process.
Tell us a bit about your project and we’ll follow up with next steps.
